Ahhh asbestos, the amazing, naturally occurring mineral. Amazingly bad that is.

Did you know, if Workplace Health and Safety is your responsibility, then so too is the management of Asbestos and Asbestos Containing Materials in your workplace?

By law, you have a number of responsibilities.

Here’s the quick & dirty…

You must:

– Have an asbestos register;
– Have an asbestos management plan;
– Control asbestos in the workplace;
– Hold the right training and licenses; and
– Monitor your workers’ health.

It sounds complex, but it doesn’t have to be.

Here are 3 quick tips to ensure you not only meet your compliance requirements but become a model organisation as we move further into an era of auditing and litigation.

1. Manage your asbestos registers and management plans digitally!

You’ll keep all the information accurate and easily accessible across the organisation for staff, contractors and visitors.

2. Label your assets.

This can save an unbelievable amount of time chasing registers when they’re just a scan away.

3. Engage consultants the right way.

Ensure they not only specialise in NATA laboratory services but also provide an independent digital offering for your registers and management plans. That way you’re not locked in and your data is yours.

At Octfolio, we’ve produced this video because we believe in providing a safe workplace for staff, contractors and visitors the world over.
