The story (so far)

Octfolio’s asbestos software has served the asbestos industry for over ten years. Initially developed as a document management system, it was rolled out to two large Northern Territory Government clients during large-scale asbestos audits, when it became clear that managing thousands of asbestos registers was a daunting task.

After this project, the team continued to work on Octfolio, adding field data and utilising automated reporting, making asbestos registers easier to manage. This new way to digitally manage asbestos started to spread across the industry. Octfolio was the first asbestos compliance software product to target asset managers, giving ownership of the data back to those who needed it.

While Octfolio gained traction in State Government organisations, it wasn't until it made the jump into the energy sector that the team took on feedback around communicating risks. This is when Octfolio, as we know it today, started to take shape. QR codes were added (long before anyone knew what they were) and helped bring the compliance information needed in the field, right to the fingertips of those who needed it.

From there, Octfolio has grown, having two major version upgrades, adding functionality to make it easier to manage large, dispersed asset portfolios, as well as a large focus on re-auditing, to capture and keep data up to date and accessible for years to come.

Starting as just a small idea, Octfolio is now the best asbestos management software for asset owners on the market. It is used across many sectors, loved by many, and has helped bring thousands of people home safe to their families.

Based in Brisbane, Australia, Octfolio is part of ALS Global. We are an organisation focused on providing innovative field management software solutions, customised compliance solutions, and applications relating to Workplace Health and Safety, one scan at a time.

Principles that bind us

We strongly believe it’s not just what you do that matters, it’s how you do it. This is why we created Octfolio to be an uncomplicated, secure and effective tool aimed at enhancing transparency surrounding compliance risks within an organisation.

Octfolio values transparency as a key principle. Transparency guarantees the accuracy and dependability of the platform's information, and informs development roadmaps and customer service. When information is transparent, accuracy, currency and validity can easily be verified. This is especially important for a platform that deals with hazardous materials like asbestos, where incorrect information can have serious consequences. Transparency builds trust among stakeholders, such as property owners, contractors, regulators and visitors, by providing an accessible record of all activities and transactions.

Simplicity is an essential principle of Octfolio. Simple workflows and systems make it easy for users to find, use and understand data. Asbestos management is complicated and highly regulated, so the platform has a simple and intuitive interface for users. With simple workflows and systems, users can quickly access and understand the information required to complete tasks, and work together. This reduces errors, boosts efficiency and increases user satisfaction.

Having a secure location for storing compliance information is essential. It is important to safeguard sensitive and confidential information from unauthorised access, loss, or malicious intent. Asbestos management involves handling potentially hazardous materials and keeping track of complex regulations, making it critical to provide a secure and trustworthy environment for storing this information. Up to date security measures minimise the risk and ensure that sensitive information remains confidential.
